II all goes according to plan, tne
75,000 fans attending the Super Bowl
will have no idea security personnel are
in their Midst, prepared for everything
from pickpockets to terrorists.
At least that's the hope of officials
charged with ensuring the safety of an
estimated 150,000 visitors to this spotlight-hungry
city already seasoned in
putting out the welcome mat for seven
Super Bowls and one World Series.
"Most of the public will never know
what we did, but they will know that
they enjoyed themselves and saw a good
game," said FBI spokesman Mike Fabregas.

Chris Jericho faced Perry Saturn
in a loser-wears-a-dress' match.
After a match full of strong mat
maneuvers, it was referee Scott Dickinson
who had the final say, as he aided
Jericho by rolling Saturn over
and making a fast 3-count. Saturn did
put on that dress, as stipulated.
Billy Kidman retained his cruiserweight
title by winning a four-corners
match, beating Rey Mysterio, Juvi
and Psychosis.
This match was the highlight of
the night, featuring all the terrific
lightweight, high-flying moves fans
nave come to expect.
Bam Bam beat Wrath in a battle

Hie Flair men (Ric and David) beat
Barry Windham and Curt Hennig, despite
the two-on-one nature of the
match. David Flair had no point being
in the ring, and stayed out of the
way as he should have.
He did pin Hennig after Arn Anderson
smacked him with a tire iron,
but after the match, Ric Flair watched
helplessly (handcuffed to the rope) as
HulkHogan and the rest of the nWo
whipped 19-year-old David with a
leather lifting belt.
David Flair was naintad nn with
the letters E-Z-E on his back, Hogan's
love name for Eric Bischoff.
Before the main event, Goldberg
was shown in his lockerroom sprawled
out on the floor grasping his knee.
Fans were left to assume he had been
attacked by the nWo.
* Thus, Goldberg was at half-speed
for the main-event ladder match, forced
to wear a brace on his left knee. After
a series of classic ladder-match
bumps by Scott Hall and Bill Goldberg,
it was a bloody Goldberg that
beat Hall.
Goldberg (who looked much like
Steve Austin with his busted forehead
and knee brace) did use the taser on
Hall, but Bam Bam immediately
stormed the ring and took out Goldberg.
That allowed Hall to get up from
spear, jackhammer, and taser shots
to again buzz the living daylights

out of Goldberg. All in all, a good show,
despite a wasted first hour.
Ric Flair started NITRO with a
bang, wanting a revenge match with
Hogan for the gold at Superbrawl
IX, saying, "Forget about the 14 times
[being world champion 1,1 want to be
known as the man who killed Hulk
Hogan dead."
Son David eventually challenged
Bischoff to a match later in the night,
with the stipulation: Flair wins,
Bischoff shaves his head; Bischoff wins,
Ric shaves his head and gives up his
90-day power.
David Flair did score the victory,
after nailing Bischoff with a roll of
quarters given to him by referee Randy
Anderson.
Thus, Bischoff lost his jet-black
hair, only to reveal how gray it actually
is. Who knew the old man's hair
would have been that gray?

I would look for DDP to show up unannounced

By the way, Steiner pummeled Saturn,

with the "Steiner-Recliner."
In the night's main event, Hall,
Bam Bam, and Goldberg squared off
in a three-way match.

It's a much different picture this
