dewed by USCPD. The tape documents
ane suspect and, according to Chief of
Investigations and Administrations
Lawrence Pathel, it reveals that
there might be more than one person
involved in the crime.
The tape clearly captures the suspect
walking away from the Sumter
Street side of the garage. In the background,
the cars are engulfed in flames.
Pathel said the hat worn by the suspect
vaguely resembles a fraternity hat.
"We're questioning people in fraternities,"
Pathel said.
The police have no evidence suggesting
the suspect had a motive. "It
appeared random," Pathel said. "We
ion't know that he's in a fraternity."
Pathel is counting on the picture to
help identify the suspect. "Whoever
knows this guy will recognize his features,"
Pathel said. He hopes people
who know the suspect will inform the
police.

Pathel said.
An investigation is in progress. "We
collected residue. It's been forwarded
to the SLED labs," Pathel said.
, . Pathel still believes that the garages
are safe. "If s still the best parking available,"
said Pathel. "I think they're
certainly safe.
The garage will be on careful supervision
by the police department. "Ifs
typical that when something occurs you
watch it closer," Pathel said.
As far as adding permanent security
to the campus garages, Pathel said
"We will evaluate the situation."
Chief Pathel encourages anvone with

of students going too far when
drinking.
"It's hard to tell students not to
drink at the games and really think
they'll listen," Satterfield said. "I think
it's okay to drink, but when things
start to get out of hand, it's time to
stop."
According to state law, disorderly
conduct of any kind is punishable by
up to 30 days in jail and up to a $100
fine.
"Sometimes during tailgating, people
might overindulge in alcohol," Gallman
said.
"Alcohol can break down peoples'
inhibitions... a lot of our incidents are
alcohol related."
Gallman said underage drinking
is not only against the law, but it is
also unsafe, and even those 21 years

"It's against the law and you can
so easily do something that could af- ?

Rick Gant, coordinator of student ?
life programs, agrees that students ^
need to be educated about the legal

"A new sheriffs task force and more ^

A physical altercation between a
Georgia and a USC fan was also re- '
ported. *
The Georgia fan received a one- ,
and-a-half inch cut on the right side l
of his head but refused to prosecute
the subject, because he would have
had to return to South Carolina for '
a court appearance. e
Gallman attributes this incident
partially to the intensity and rivalry ,
between the two teams.
Another incident occurred when
a USCPD officer approached a man 1
drinking liquor inside the stadium, 1
