body." A completely open environment,
she said, is not something the
faculty and administration can "pass
down" because "students themselves
must go beyond that."
In order to encourage this, Mouzon
is concentrating on developing "eyecatching"
programs that "get away from
traditional programs," such as designing
new ways to showcase AfricanAmerican
history.
"If you see where people are coming
from," Mouzon said, "it'll help you
to understand them better."
Jackson emphasized that everyone,
not just minorities, must make an effort
to gain such knowledge. "I think
the responsibility lies within all of
us. True change happens from indi^vidual
to individual."
