such as "Louie, Louie" and "Twist and
Shout" that have a rock'n' roll beat.
Despite the restriction on the popular
song, fans sang "Louie, Louie" even
though the band did not play it.
Many fans and students were not
pleased when the band did not play the
songs, however, and officials were forced
to move the band from the corner between
the south end zone and the lower
east stands to the upper deck.
"We felt that last week there had
been a lot of problems with people
throwing things at the band and taunting
them for not playing songs we had
asked them not to play," Brewer said.
"They will be back in their old spot next , i

the goal of all seven of our conference
members, so I know that South Carolina
athletic director Bob Marcum accepts
this award with great pride,"
Hatchell said.
Marcum agreed, and credited the
award to the winning attitude of Gamecock
athletes.
"I think winning this award is a tribute
to our athletes and coaches ? they
really want to win the All-Sports trophy
because it reflects so well on their
athletic department," Marcum said. H[

all the resources we can into our department
