The Gamecock baseball team must really like
playing the No. 4 team in the nation. Last weekend,
i|, the Gamecocks took two of three from then-No. 4 AlOp^|
abama, and this past weekend, Carolina (26-6) swept
current-No. 4 Auburn.
Getting a combination of solid pitching and time9m
ly hitting, USC defeated Auburn 6-2, 7-6 and 11-6.
Friday, Jason Pomar worked out of a pair of lateinning,
bases-loaded situations to earn his sixth save
of the year as lOth-ranked South Carolina earned a
Pfe* 6-2 win over the Tigers.
.JHL* Carolina got a strong starting performance from
4 freshman Kip Bouknight (W, 6-0), who allowed two
runs on six hits in six-plus innings of work.
Bouknight left the game in the seventh leading
6-2 after allowing a leadoff homerun by Chad Wandall
and singles by Dominic Rich and Scott Pratt.
After reliever Jamie Poston walked Josh Etheridge
to load the bases, Poston struck out Casey Dunn and
Jamie Kersh. Pomar then came on and forced Hay,
- den Gliemmo into a deep flyout to left.
Auburn loaded the bases against Pomar with one
out in the ninth, but Kersh struck out looking, and
Gliemmo grounded out to first to end the game,

d the Bordenick added an opposite-field solo shot, his ninth,
in the fifth to give USC a 5-0 lead.
