the ninth by right fielder Tim Angiolini
and a sacrifice fly from third baseman
Eric Stanton in the bottom of the 11th
inning to catapult the team to a 11-10
victory against Alabama Sunday.
Alabama, the No. 4 team in the country
coming into the series, had come back
from a 3-1 loss on Friday to maul the \
Gamecocks 11-0 on Saturday.

SEC pitcher of the week last week, holding
Alabama to only five hits in a complete-game
victory.

Alabama brought in its star closer,
junior Jarrod Kingrey. In 13 appearances
before Sunday, Kingrey had not given up
a single earned run, notching an SECleading
six saves.
Pinch-hitter Clint Collins greeted
Kingrey with a two-run homerun to left,
bringing the score to 10-9.
Then, with two outs in the bottom
of the ninth inning, junior transfer student
Tim Angiolini hit a game-tying homerun
to left field.
That set the stage for Stanton's gamewifining
sacrifice fly in the 11th.
Junior Jason Pomar pitched four
strong innings in relief to get his third
win of the year, striking out six and allowing
no runs.
The win moved USC's record to 4-4
in SEC play and 21-6 overall. Alabama
fell to 20-5 overall and 5-3 in SEC play.
The next series for USC is a two-game
series against Georgia State Tuesday and
Wednesday. Game time for both games
is 7 p.m.

Sometimes you have to rely on a little luck.
That's exactly what the Lady Gamecock softball te
needed Sunday as they took two games from Ole M
4-0 and 5-0.
"I thought we did a nice job of coming out a
