"I have been given no time at all to prepare for this hearing. Due process must be given a fair chance to happen, which in this case it hasn't been," he said. Franklin believes this issue is being addressed because of a personal vendetta Senator Veldman has against him. "I truly believe [Sen.] Steve Veldman has a personal vindictiveness against me," he said. "All the focus against me goes beyond the Senate and into the rest of Student Government. They have taken matters personally." "If they bring impeachment charges against me I will consider resigning," Franklin said, "so they will not have the satisfaction of impeaching me because I will not be involved in letting them exercise their personal vendettas against me." If impeachment proceedings are to go into effect, the Senate will hear the case with Shah presiding over the Senate instead of the vice president, Kim Dickerson. A 2/3 majority of the Senate is necessary for an im peachment to occur. Shah believes this issue can be resolved with a fair hearing and heeded this advice to the Judiciary Committee: "It is the duty of the Senkjr Justice and the Senate Judiciary members to expel all prejudices and to be able to hear all cases fairly," he said, "if they do have any sort of bias it is their duty to excuse themselves from ^ the proceedings." Siachos agreed. "I think it S is in fairness to the student body to investigate these isS6 sues facing our president, our Senate and our Elections Commission in determining the constitutionality and the co fairness of the actions of Jamel Franklin," he said.
