On a rainy and cold Saturday afternoon,
men's soccer team faced Navy, who came ou

take the lead at 6-4. Laires served five
straight points with an ace and Carolina
took a 9-6 lead.
Fortman and Moore doubled up a

ace to up the lead to 11-10. The Tigers
tied it up at 11 and 13 before Moore
knocked down one of her 15 kills to
take a 14-13 lead. Fortman ended the

for the Gamecocks, knocking down 13

Also playing well for Carolina were
Edlund and Moore. ^
Edlund had a match-high 39 assists
and five kills in seven attempts
for a hitting percentage of .714. She
also added 14 digs, two block assists
and a service ace.
Moore had 11 kills and five digs
for USC. Laires added nine kills and
16 digs, while Larkin had nine kills.
Up next for the Gamecocks is two ^
home matches this weekend against
Kentucky and Tennessee. USC hosts
the Wildcats at 7 p.m. Friday and Tennessee
at 2 p.m. Sunday. All matches
are in the Volleyball Competition Center,
located on the corner of Assembly
and Blossom Streets and are free to

glimpse of the excellence at Carolina
and afforded students and fans a chance
to get into the national spotlight.
The next chance fans will have to
see their team will be Nov. 6 in an exhibition
game against Marathon Oil.
