I ordered the Two Piece Bikini, a
mixture of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry
with protein powders. I asked for the
chocolate flavor, but instead I received
a smoothie with bananas, strawberries
and chocolate.
The girl behind the counter simply
said, "I put a little bit of eveiything in
it."
The smoothie was not bad, but it
was not what I requested.
My companion fared better. He chose
the PBJ which was absolutely
outstanding. It had the perfect ratio of
peanut butter, strawberries, and vanilla
ice cream. The PBJ is definitely one of
the best smoothies on the menu.
I also sampled the Chocolate Chimp
which had a strong bananas-andchocolate
taste. It was okay, but nowhere
near a top pick because of the
overpowering banana flavor.
Even when they are not busy, the
service at Planet Smoothie is really slow.
Be prepared to wait even longer during
busy times.
Some of the staff may cop an attitude
or act a little snooty, but I think it is
because they are still getting used to
the routine. One co-owner was rude,
and another assistant manager refused
to identify herself.
The inside of Planet Smoothie has
a definite industrial feel, almost like a
pair of Doc Martens. The noise from the
loud, .powerful blenders bounces off the
stony floor and countertops, making it

are running. There is nowhere to sit
inside to enjoy your smoothie and
virtually no ambience either.
For some customers, the smoothies
themselves may be a little expensive.
The average price is $3.25 which does
not seem that bad unless it's your turn
to treat your friends. Our bill for two
smoothies was $6.75 plus tax, and a
short while later we were hunerv for
something more substantial.
Planet Smoothie also sells vitamins,
supplements and big jugs of weight
gainer and fat burner products. They
also plan to add low-fat sandwiches to
their menu, Avant said.
Overall, Planet Smoothie's "gourmet"
smoothies are a great concept and
delicious product, but service is currently
substandard. After a couple mere months
of business, most likely the kinks will
be worked out.
