In other business, the Senate passed SBL(97)009, a resolution officially reprimanding NAACP president Gretchen Durrah for comments made at a press conference. The resolution had been w passed by last term's senate but then" Vice-president Jamel Franklin refused to sign it After the meeting it was realized that the Senate did not have to vote again because it is not necessary for the vicepresident to sign a resolution. "There was miscommunication between the president and the Rules Committee on an issue," Sen. Gene Willis said after the meeting. Sen. Curtis Brown announced the Finance Committee has rewritten SBL(97)007, the finance bill, so allocated money and percentages match up. The Senate also passed SBL(97)012, a resolution allowing the formation of Student Government intramural teams.
