Unfortunately for the Gamecocks,
Arkansas scored more runs on
Sunday (301 than USC did all
weekend.
Friday's game was delayed almost
two hours by drizzling rain, but when
Jake Whitfield took the mound for
USC, it appeared the cool rain had
done nothing to cool him down from
warm-ups. He threw the first three
innings solidly, giving up two hits
and no runs.
The Gamecocks, however, came
to the plate sizzling?they batted
around in the first inning, and scored
five runs.
The Razorbacks kept in the game,
however, and in the top of the sixth,
were down 8-4 when everything fell
apart for USC.
Arkansas used eight hits to score
seven runs and jump ahead 11-8,
the eventual final.
