Richard D. James is an astounding
journey through the mind of Aphex
Twin.
Contrary to the belief the album
was named after the
electronic/experimental genius himselfj
the title actually comes from his brother,
who died at an early age.
If the idea of two brothers having
the same name is confusing, don't
worry ? the album is a reversion to
childhood, 90 it fits. The domestic release
of Richard D. James contains the
Giri/Boy EP, so fens won't have to shell

The jacket of the CD shows a picture
of James resembling the mischievous
smirk of a 5-year-old, a sharp contrast
from the geek-like, smiling self-portrait
from I Care Because You Do.
Expectations of the new Aphex
Twin album should not be based on
past releases. After six albums and a
string of singles and EPs under the
aliases Polygon Window, AFX and The
Diceman, if s impossible to predict the
product of an individual who creates
his own instruments to achieve a motif)
progressing into a soundscape where
James goes to great pains to create
the manifestation of childhood
adventures, desires and
disappointments.
The goofy and whimsical tone
dissonance of "Cam Mouth" is combined
beautifully with samples of modem
