Fellowships and Summer Programs and
a freshman reading program.
"All these initiatives have resulted
in increased student retention, increased
applications for admission, improvement
in undergraduate teaching, stricter
standards for faculty and an extracdinary
enthusiasms on the part of the faculty,"
Greiner said.
"Equally important is that our faculty
and students have more shared
opportunities for intellectual discussions
and cultural activities outside the
classroom and lab, something that we
are especially proud of in a university
this size," Greiner said.
Universities who received the
certificate are Prince George's Community
College, Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology and Virginia Polytechnic Institute
and State University. The I
