For once in my life, I will
give the idiot savant
conservatives a break and
write about something I
really like. Yes, the world's biggest
cynic is back after a week's vacation
conducting that experiment in
nastiness called Singletonian
philosophy, and he's not happy.
Of course, everyone knows what
Friday is. The one day out of the
year when those who have significant
others torment those who don't. For
those in the peanut gallery who dont
know what the hell I'm talking
about-ITS VALENTINE'S DAY,
STUPID!
Ever since I was a small child in
Florence, S.C., this day leaves a
strong sense of contempt and disgust
in what little heart I have.
Having your teachers force you
to give cards to people who would
otherwise tell you to go to hell does
wonders for a child's psyche. Most
of my classmates are still going
through therapy right now, I tell
you.
Valentine's Day to me is the one
shopping day I have to get my
father's present since his birthday
is on the 15th. This gives me an
excuse to go to the malls and laugh

Last Thursday night was Sigma
Chi's annual Derby Day Air Band
party. It is here that the campus
social sororities showcase their talents
with an entertaining skit to raise
money for the Children's Miracle
Network. Sigma Chi and the
sororities should be commended for
their efforts. So many Greeks have
lost sight of the big picture and I
was glad to see them coming together
to help others.
It was my understanding that
the Derby Day party was open to
anyone on campus. In fact many of
my "Greek" friends encouraged me
to attend. But, once I entered the
Armory I received a different
impression. A majority of the skits
were fun and light hearted. One
performance, however, struck me
as a tad disturbing and offensive.
One of the sororities thought it might
be cute to have one of their sisters
paint her face a dark brown so that
she might more convincingly portray
a rap artist.

however I do have one question for

How exactly will you please all of

sorority girls, and one-night stands,
even though they are all one and the
same? I know you guys are the best but
you do only have 24 hours to do your
dirty work and you do have to sleep.
Also, would you allot your women certain
hours to share you? Next!

if you are going to represent a group
you should represent accordingly.
The performance was not only a
disgrace to the Greek establishment
but it was also an insult to the
foundation in which this multicultural
university was built upon.
