It's one of those non-holidays, the da
when it's exactly one month after
Christmas, a day when it seems like no
one is celebrating anything.
And it's true, January is usually one c

But it will be impossible to forget
January 1997.
The beginning of this semester was
much more eventful. January was full c

President Clinton took the oath of
office for the second time. The
Gamecocks went undefeated in the SE
(as of press time), and the Garnet and

But in the past month, we also saw a
good deal of sorrow. Someone thought

heard she was gone. I had her for a
iry French speaking and listening class last
spring. All I really know about Amy
Millstone was that she sometimes wore

red cowboy boots to class, she had a lot
of friends, she really cared about her students,
and she was an excellent French
teacher.
And that's probably all I '11 ever know,
except now I'll know not to take caring
professors for granted, to let them know
how much they mean to me.
