Movie-goers who remember the
tremendously popular film "A Fish
Called Wanda" should be prepared to
do a double-take this Friday for the
national release of "Fierce Creatures."
The entire cast from "A Fish Called
Wanda," the second most successful
British movie ever made, have united
again in the new comedy "Fierce
Creatures."
Specifically billed as "the equal..mot
the sequel to 'A Fish Called Wanda,"
producers and cast are obviously hoping
for a repeat performance of the success
achieved by "Wanda," which grossed
over $200 million at the box office in
1988.
Cast together for a second time,
John Cleese, Jaime Lee Curtis, Kevin
Kline and Michael Palin star in "Fierce
Creatures" as entirely new characters H
with a completely different story than
the previous "Wanda."
The plot of movie humorously
chronicles the intersecting lives and
ambitions of four staff members at
Marwood Zoo.
Filmed in England, the movie
begins when Rollo Lee (John Cleese)
arrives at the zoo as the new director
intent upon turning Marwood into a
huge, money-making operation.
To accomplish his goal, he plans
to get rid of all the soft, furry animals

"Evita," which stars Madonna, is
an extraordi.-;ai y film based on the
musical version of the life of Eva Perm _
The director of "Evita," Alan Parker,
kept the Broadway feel by using the
musical scores to carry the audience
through the film.
Peron's life follows the "rags to
riches" storyline, but it is not as simple
as the standard story.
Peron was a determined young
woman who struggled to break free of
the lower class and become "someone."

incredible woman Eva Peron was.
"Evita" is a musical in every sense
of the word. And although there is no
dialogue, the story line is very easy to
follow.

creatures" to reel in blood-hungry ir
visitors (hence the film's title). w
Of course, this horrifies the zoo tl
keepers, including the insect manager g<
Bugsy Malone (Michael Palin).
And so the zoo keepers prepare for w
war against Rollo.
Then Jaime Lee Curtis descends ir
upon the scene as Willa Weston, a ai
high-powered executive recently
reassigned to work at Marwood Zoo. tl
She wants to change the zoo into
an amusement park, and at her side
is Kevin Kline as Vince McCain.
One twist in "Fierce Creatures"
involves Willa and Vince being sent
to England by the character of Rod
McCain, also played by Kevin Kline.
Here Kline challenges himself in
the double role of portraying both father /
and son.
The second twist occurs as the "bad 1
guv" Rollo reforms his wavs and trades
places with Vince. g
A third complexity is the distinct J
love triangle between Willa, Vince and
Rollo. 1
Finally, to cause even more j
confusion, Rod reappears at the zoo
with his own evil ideas. The rest of the
movie proceeds from there.

The music throughout "Evita" was
incredible, and a theater's sound system
enhances the effect of the music.
If you are not sure you would enjoy
it because it of the fact that it is a

It is not a typical Hollywood start

There is no excessive dancing and
no drawn-out songs.
The film's story is incredible, and
the performances throughout the film

I was extremely moved by this film,
and I will be going back to see it again
before it leaves the theaters.
