The most important lesson to be
learned from this site is restraint. Just
because we can do a thing, doesn't mean
we must do that thing. If you find out
about a new technique or a new piece of
technology (hint: animated pictures),
don't stick it in your page because you
can; evaluate how you might best take
advantage of the technology to further
enhance your page.

publishing this web site? It is absolutely
necessary to plan out your site before
you begin construction, or else youH end

ideas and looks, another sign
of an amateur site. Go to a professional
site, say of a record company, or even
MTV (www.mtv.com), and note the
consistency of design throughout the
entire site.
Remember, you want to present your
information so people can get at it easily,
not so they can marvel at your technical
wizardry.
A well-planned amateur site can rival
professional sites in design and
implantation, and more than one amateur
site has blossomed into a professional
site on the basis of merit, coincidentally
making a tidy profit for the designers.
Follow these guidelines, and you too
could find yourself in a position to take
your site to the next level.
