The spirit, dedication
and teamwork shown by
USC student organizations
isn't something that's evident
solely during Homecoming
Week.
Instead, the 250 student
organizations at USC make
contributions throughout the
year to better Carolina and
the Columbia community.
Members of some
organizations cleanup local
highways, while members
from other organizations
work with disabled children.
Each year the
Homecoming Commission
recognizes the efforts of
three organizations, that
really stand out, during the
Halftime Awards Ceremony.

The Department of
Biological Sciences will be
offering tours of two USC
research facilities on Friday,
September 27.
From 11 a.m. until
noon, visitors are invited to
tour the Gordon Belser
Arboretum. This 7-acre
parcel represents the largest
single greenspace within

student organization that
has received an award or
has in any other way been
distinguished for any
arhievemenf-academic
service, leadership- on a
national, regional or
statewide basis.
The Spirit of Carolina
Award, also called the "best
of the best," recognizes an
organization that has
excelled in all aspects:
participation by its members,
leadership and visibility on
campus, and spirit. The
recipient of this award made
notable efforts to improve
the Carolina community
through its programs and
activities.
