Start clipping those pizza coupons
? exams are just around the corner.
According to a manager at Papa
John's, students get hungry for pizza
during exam week, especially around
late night. Papa John's does anywhere
from $500 to $1,000 more a day during

This probably comes as no surprise
to the many students who wait until
the last minute (the night before their
most anticipated exam) to do some
cramming.
"Data would indicate not that much
is accomplished when a person tries
to stay up all night cramming," said
Roger Bowersock, director of Counseling
and Human Development. The best
thing to do is make sure you're

their promotions," Terry said. The "free
hours" are available at designated times
of the day, per month. As such, students
who spend several hours a day surfing
the net may be attracted to the vendor
contract.
Terry emphasized that upgrading
computing technology is an ongoing
process. Technicians are "pulling new
wire" as well as installing "routers and
hubs" in the Coliseum, Petigru, Osborne,
Thomwdl and the College of Social Work,
among others.

Bowersock said the best way to
prevent exam stress and the headaches
and sleeplessness that can accompany
it is with "preparedness." He suggests
students get started with their studying
immediately.
"The biggest difference between
undergraduate students and graduate
students is the way they prepare for
exams," he said. "Undergraduates
tend to wait until the last minute."

Bowersock suggests studying in shorter
periods of time with quick breaks in
between instead of the more common
method of studying for hours at once.
He also says students studying
math should study in groups instead
of individually.
"The primary difference between
people who do well in math, and people
who don't do well is not so much math
ability as it is the way they study," he
said. "It's best to meet with a small
group, preferably in a classroom with
a chalkboard."

basic research.
Ihe problem now is the Internet
has a commercial purpose. The extent
to which online activity is unrelated to
basic research maybe justifies charging (
fees," he said. ?
But even as students pay for their
own optional graphic services, the basic j
hardwiring of dorms is bound to run an
enormous tab. Teny mentioned "working
with housing and student affairs" to
resolve financial details. As past campus
networking costs were "absorbed" into
basic fees and tuition, it would not take
a propeller head to speculate that certain
fee increases are well within the realm
of possibility.
"The universe has expanded," said
Calhoun, "and I am not sure the
university can afford to do this and pass
on no costs."
