HOW TO MAKE AN AMERICAN QUILT

Before I saw the film, I was told I wouldn't like
it. A very close friend declared that it was the
best movie she had seen in recent years, but that
I wouldn't like it because it was a "chick flick."
She was wrong.
"How to Make an American Quilt" is a brilliant
film which explores the relationship between
marriage and love. Winonna Ryder stars as Finn,
a graduate student who spends the summer with
her grandmother to do research about quilting for
her master's thesis. She talks with the old ladies
in the quilting circle about their latest creation
centered around the theme "where love resides."
Each woman tells of their experiences with love
and how those experiences are manifested in their
