Drinkin:
In an attempt to get in touch with my readership
the other day, I asked two friends what
computing or Internet issue they would most
like see covered in my column. Being college students,
they immediately said: "Alcohol."
Now. ordinarily, I cover the social, moral and
ethical aspects of the Internet and computing or
the emergence of new technology. The though
of covering alcohol on the Internet took a little
getting used too. Then, I realized that this is the
21st edition of "Technobabble" and that I happen
to be 21, and before I knew it, the alcohol
topic seemed to make sense.
Before I begin, a little disclaimer is probably
in order. I wish to say that this column is not
intended to encourage under-age drinking (or
even legal-age drinking for that matter). I also
strongly believe people should consider the effects
of alcohol before they drink and that they
should never drive while intoxicated. To that

Mental illness
has warning signs, too.
Withdrawal from social
activities. Excessive anger.
These could be the first
warning signs of a mental
illness. Unfortunately, most of
us don't recognize the signs.
Which is tragic. Because
mental illness can be treated.
In fact, 2 out of 3 people who
get help, get better.

For those of you with slightly less noble
interests might want to look in on "World
Wide Beer Places and Jumps" at
http^/www .orcalink.com/~curator/beerjump.htm.
If there was ever an index to
beer on the Internet, this is it. They even
have a section just for Guiness.
Yet another site that might appeal to
the alcohol-crazed college student is the index
of drinking games at

html. You might be surprised at just how
many drinking games there are out there.

Now, for "zomething" a little different: Zima.
I can't believe I just used that stupid "z" gag in
ny own column.) Yes, Zima has its own web site.
Vly guess is that you will probably find the web

Finally, for those of you who might not
know when to say when, there is "Online AA Resources."
It is a collection of Alcoholics Anonymous
information, regional AA groups and meet-^
ing schedules and some other alcoholism-related
materials at http://www.casti.com/aa/. It is
without question the most worthwhile site I came
across in my alcohol explorations.
