The Lady Gamecocks will be led by

Kelly has started from the ground
up since last spring in building her program.
She has assembled a team made
of all freshmen and juniors who transferred
from other schools.
"Due to injuries right now I do not
have a pure starting eleven on the field,
but I feel comfortable with the players
I have," Kelly said.
Carolina has some talented players,
such as forward Debbie Smith, midfielder
Lexi Tourellote and goal keeper
Amy Toms.
Smith, a native of England, has won
a junior college national championship
and also helped her women's club win
a WFA Cup and a National League Cup
championship in England.

RYAN WILSON Sports Editor
Volleyball coach Kim Hudson came
to Carolina with a three-year plan of
where she wanted her squad to be.
Her third year as the Lady Gamecocks'
coach begins tonight at 7 as Carolina
plays host to Xavier in the first
round of the Carolina Classic at the Sol
Blatt P. E. Center.
The Lady Gamecocks will have to replace
three starters - Amy Iannocari,
Jodie Thompson, and Katie Gerst - off
last year's 24-12 team. Hudson believes
the loss of those players will not spell
immediate doom for the Lady Gamecocks,
but give them a different way to
spell relief this year.
"Our team will have a totally different
complexion than it did last season,"
Hudson said. "You can't replace seniors.
You have to bring in new student-athletes
to add to you strengths."
Senior Kori Ermigarat and sophomore
Heather Larkin, both All-SEC performers
in *94, should headline Carolina's
front line, with junior Kelly Morrow
handling the setting chores.

The USC men's soccer team, coming
off a 5-0 win over Presbyterian College
Wednesday, will play their first big
game of the year when they travel upstate
to take on the Clemson Tigers in
Clemson Sunday.
The team is not loaded with senior
leadership, but it does have talent on
its side. The Gamecocks looked good
Wednesday night, and they hope to continue
their success against the Tigers.
The Tigers have a good team this
year, ranked No. 2 nationally, and it
