S LUCY ARNOLD Staff Writer You need a strong stomach to hang out in the Russell House Gameroom these days. The blood and gore of Killer Instinct may be too much for the weak at heart. Killer Instinct, the arcade's hottest new game, is more than just your basic man-fights-the-forces-of-evil video game. That's because evil usually gets the most points. The premise of the game is a tournament. To win, your character must kill many other creatures in the tour| nament. You receive more points by lisincr finishincr moves to kill onno nents. These special moves usually do something very violent and gory to other characters. Basically, your character choices come down to a werewolfj a resurrected skeleton warrior, an alien, a human experiment, a cyborg and a dinosaur named (would you have guessed it?) Riptor. If you manage to beat the game by defeating Eyedol, the two-headed big boss of the tournament, the game shows I you a glance at the world ruled by your freshman t STEPHANIE SONNENFELD Asst. Features Editor Katie Crecente, a broadcasting freshman, usually leaves Professor Lynn Zoch's journalism 201 class Wednesdays in a hurry, stopping only to get ready before heading to SCETV studios where she co-anchors a program for teen-agers, "South Carolina in the News." Crecente, a Mauldin native, didn't just stumble upon this position; rather, she's been in training for a few years. After DarticiDatiner in Mauldin Hi&rh I School's student-run TV newscast for three years and working on a com munity magazine show, she's some' what of a broadcasting veteran. Yet, her career didn't start just like that; she had to discover it.
