The game will be televised on Columbia's WIS-TV and Atlanta's WAGA-TV. WIS-TVs coverage reaches 38 of South Carolina's 46 counties, including carriage on 100 cable systems. WIS is Columbia's exclusive producer of the Southeastern Conference's football and men's basketball television package. WIS has also comitted to produce and televise an additional South Carolina men's home basketball game during the 1994-95 season. Kickoff time, originally scheduled for 7 p.m., has been moved to 8 p.m. in order to comply with the College Football Association's Television Plan. The pre-season depth chart, released late last week, held some surprises at certain positions. The most noticeable item on the depth chart is the presence of seven freshmen, either redshirt or true freshman, in the top two at each position. "Some of our freshmen are stepping into holes where we had some returning players who just haven't been doing the job. It's all about recruiting and that's what we have to do," Head Coach Brad Scott said. One of the freshmen who has > ( | BIG CARP AS LOW AS Jf (DC!M% J 7390 Tw I 510 Bus released for stepped up is offensive guard Travis Whitfield. The 6-4,260 lb. redshirt freshman has quickly risen to the starting tight guard position, even though he was moved from defensive line to offensive line a week ago. "We moved Travis because we thought he would have a chance to start and help this football team. I like his approach to the game.
