One look at the forward position and one name jumps out,
Chris Faklaris. The senior Ail-American from Stone Mountain,

points, and garnered second team Ail-American honors last
year.
Joining Faklaris is speedy senior Cedric Marshall and
sophomore Chuck Prosser, both of whom have game experience.
Newcomers Laban Chappell, Robbie Pait, and Iceland
native Knstinn Larusson, all look to provide depth to the
Gamecocks front line.

John Mills, expected to be completely recovered from a torn
anterior cruciate ligament, logged 880 minutes in goal last
season. Classmate Bubba Dieppe should push Mills for playing
time.
Tom Monteverdi sat out last season to fulfill NCAA transI
fer regulations. The White Plains, N.Y. native came from
Oneonta State. Rounding out the goalkeepers is Jamie Starr,
who looks to provide valuable depth at the goalkeeper posi,
tion.
The Gamecocks schedule has always been one of the
toughest in the country, and this year is no exception. Instate
rivals Clemson, FHirman, Erskine and Presbyterian all
visit the Graveyard during the season.
I The UMBRO Kickoff Classic on Sept. 18, and the MetLife
J Classic Oct. 14-16 both take place at the Graveyard. These
m tournaments pit some of the best teams in the nation against
one another.
USC will take on national powerhouses Indiana on Sept.
3, St. Louis on Sept. 4, Rutgers on Sept. 7 and North Carolina
on Oct. 14.
The Gamecocks will be led with 14 returning letterman
and seven starters from last year's NCAA National Finalist

The Gamecocks will also face tough competition when
they begin Metro Conference play.
