Johnson resigns
The feud between Dallas Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones and coach Jimmy
Johnson culminated Tuesday with the resignation of Johnson.
Johnson, who guided the Cowboys to back-to-back Super Bowl victories,
became upset last week when rumors of Jones firing him surfaced.
immediate speculation has Jones replacing Johnson with former University
of Oklahoma coach Barry Switzer.
NIT Final set
Vanderbilt downs K-State
Billy McCaffrey and Ronnie McMahon scored 28 and 27 points respectively
Monday to lead Vanderbilt to a 82-76 win against Kansas State and advance
the Commodores into the NIT Finals tonight.
The Wildcats Askia Jones, who scored 62 points in his last outing, was
held to 17 points on just 4 of 11 shooting.
Villanova stops Siena
Siena's Cinderella-like run in the NIT ended Monday night as Villanova
downed Siena 66-58. Villanova trailed only twice.
Kerry Kittles led Villanova with 21 points.
The Wildcats will play Vanderbilt tonight.
Ice hockey in Columbia?
A press conference is scheduled for Thursday at Capitol City Stadium in
which city officials and private business owners are expected to announce
that Columbia has been approved for an East Coast Hockey League expansion
franchise.

Coble said a new convention center would probably be built to house
the team. He added that a two-cent tax increase on hotel and motel accommodations
could be implemented to pay for the center.
Olbermann returns to ESPN
Keith Olbermann will return Sunday night to ESPN from ESPN2 to resume
his position as co-anchorman on "SportsCenter."
Olbermann said he was happy most of the time at ESPN2 and added, "It
was an amicable parting."
