COLUMBIA ? Splat! A paintball hits a
tree in one of the various playing atmospheres
available at Vanguard Paintball
Games, which is frequented by USC students.
Located in the woods, Vanguard offers
sporting action for all ages, and beginners
are welcome. Vanguard's owner, Dennis
Day, said this open reception makes the
sport unique.
"The thing that amazes me about the
sport itself, not only just here but worldwide,
is that it's the largest group of
friends in the world," Day said. "A person
doesn't have to take a group. You can
come by yourself, but by the end of the
day, you've got a bunch of new friends."
Since the business started in 1987, Day
has had an increasing number of customers
as there becomes an increasing awareness
of the paintball sport. However, he said
this doesn't always lead to big profits.
