The parade was a culmination of

homecoming parade co-chairman, tu
and SGA Vice President Brian S
Comer. One of Comer's campaign
issues was improving homecoming.
"People in the past had become
apathetic about homecoming,"
Culbertson said. "It lost the appeal
it once had." 1
Comer went out this summer *
looking for businesses to help fund |
the parade.
"The university is giving us
some money from activity fees,"
Culbertson said. "We were grossly
underbudgeted because of past
financial occurrences." 1.
"We are still working on fund b?
raising though," Comer said. |__f[

According to Bannister, USC has yes
4,000 scholarships worth about $40 loa
million. Ninety-five percent are

There are about 3,000 students
n getting $5 million in Pell Grants na
e and 12,500 students borrowing ba:
ie $53.3 million in loans, Bannister att
said.
d He added that the key to kn
t- decreasing loan debt is to plan dei
ahead. Parents and students should the
i- begin seeking sources of financial
at aid during the students sophomore Ai
and junior years in high school. ha
*0 "Look for private sources such shi
