Continued from page 1 RUSSELL HOUSE UNIVERSITY UNION Located near the center of the campus, the Russell House University Union serves as the "community center" of the campus. The Russell House provides facilities, services, and programs designed to afford opportunities for social interaction and leisure activities, enhance cultural awareness, facilitate co-curricular learning, and provide for many of the day-to-day campus life needs of USC students family staff, and their soonsored euests. The facility contains a movie theater, gameroom, the Golden Spur (a popular lounge offering music listening, TV viewing as well as planned entertainment events), lounges, a ballroom, and spaces for meetings. Services provided include the Information Center (offering campus-wide information and a Lost & Found Service), meeting or event space reservation assistance provided through the reservationist, and technical services (offering sound, lighting and audio-visual equipment for campus events). The Program Office, with the assistance of the Carolina Program Union (the student program board), offers a variety of social, recreational, cultural, and educational programs and activities for USC students and the Carolina community. In addition, the Russell House contains office - spaces for many student organizations, the Campus Activities Center, and administrative offices for various student services within the Division of StudentAffairs. University Dining Services operates several dining facilities throughout the building offering a variety of dining alternatives from snacks or fast foods to full course meals in the Grand Market Place Cafeteria. The Carolina Mall located in the basement of the facility offers retail outlets and services, including many of the food service outlets operated by University Dining Services. The University Bookstore located on the ground level of the building offers all required textbooks, supplies, Carolina clothing, gift items featuring the University name and seal, greeting cards, and various other supplies and services. Other services located in and around the Russell House include Quick Copy Printing, bank teller machines, postal services, and student mailboxes and package pick-up services. SEXUAL ASSAULT PROGRAMS & SERVICES Started in Spring 1993, this office has been designated to coordinate the University's response to sexual assault, as well as educate the campus community about issues of sexual assault, date and acquaintance rape, and gender issues. The office is staffed by a full-time coordinator and a graduate assistant, who also coordinate a group of peer educators devoted to educating the campus community about the topic. Anyone, male or female, who is a victim of sexual assault may call or meet with the Sexual Assault Coordinator for confidential assistance regarding information, support and referral. Educational programs for student groups and classes are available, as are peer education opportunities. The coordinator can be reached at 777-8248 or 777-7619. I " 1 NEW APPOINTMENT SYSTEM The Student Health Center has a new appointment system! In order to reduce waiting times and improve services, students will be seen on an appointment basis only. Plenty of same-day appointment slots will be available, but it's important to call early in the day if possible. Call 7773174 for the General Medical Clinic, and 777-6816 for Women's Care.
