The USC-Georgia baseball rivalry
resumed Saturday afternoon at
Foley Field in Athens as the
Gamecocks and Bulldogs split an
SEC doubleheader.
The Bulldogs' solid pitching
helped them clinch the first game,
5-2. Starter Jim Musselwhite
improved his record to 5-2 on the
season. He kept Gamecock hitters
at bay for most of the game, giving
up only four hits and one earned
run through six innings.

All five of Georgia's runs came

starter Jason Haynie. They scored
three runs in the second and two
more in the third, giving Haynie
his first loss of the season.
Sloppy play once again hurt the
Gamecocks, as only one of UGA's
five runs was earned. USC also had
two errors in the game.
The second game was similar to
the first except that a different
team won. Strong pitching was
again the key, but this time it was
Carolina's pitching that dominated.
Rich Pratt pitched 6 2/3 innings,
allowing just run and six hits while
striking out seven Bulldogs. Pratt's
