Maya Angelou To Open Women's History Month:
Maya Angelou, noted author and composer of President Clinton
inaugural poem, will open Women's History Month with an address ;
the Carolina Plaza Ballroom Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The event is sponsored by the Association of African-America

event is the first of many planned for Women's History Month'
Celebration 1993, its theme being "Celebrating Our Past: Discoverin
Our Future."
South Carolina Philharmonic To Perform At Township
The South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra will present th
Palmetto Pops' "Invitation to the Dance" at the Township Auditoriur
Saturday at 8 p.m. Richard Hayman will conduct the orchestra in
program of dance music ranging from ballet to boogie. The Columbi
City Ballet dancers will also be featured.
Works to be performed include Tchaikovsky's Waltz fror
"Sleeping Beauty," Lerner and Lowe's "I Could Have Danced A
Night" from "My Fair Lady," Glen Miller's "Moonlight Serenade
and Conti's Theme from "Rocky."
Concert seating in the orchestra level will be cabaret-style wit
complimentary champagne and hors d'oeuvres in tables of eight ?
$350 a table in the "Champagne Cabaret" section. The regular cabare
seats will have food and refreshments as well and are $26 per persor
The First and second balconies have ticket prices of $17 and $10 pe
person.

.The Division of Student Affairs will recognize the students vvhi
have not been honored through traditional means through th
Caroliniana Award in March. The Award was established seven year
ago to give credit to those students who have been the behind-lhe
scenes workers in student organizations and activities. Students ar
considered for the award because of their work in the improvement o
the Carolina community through co-curricular activities.
Applications are available in the Campus Activities Center of th
Russell House and should be submitted with a letter of recommenda
tion from a full-time faculty or staff member by Monday, March 22
All applicants should be seniors with the GPR required for graduatioi
and in good standing with their college.
The 1993 Caroliniana Award recipients will be announced at tin
Student Leader/Adviser Recognition Reception sponsored by th<
Office of Leadership Training Programs April 13. For more informa

through the sky. It was a feeling of after my crash landing. It was only
freedom I had never known. It was hours later, after the adrenaline wore
almost like a dream, and I loved off, that my legs started to feel sore,
every minute of it. I had a wonderful experience skyBoom!
I hit the ground, landing diving. 1 will certainly go again if I
hard on my knees and skidding to a get the chance. But, next time, I
stop. Everyone asked if I was OK might wear knee pads.
