You've got to give A1 Pacino
some credit ? he's got no vanity.
He has played everything from
gangsters in "The Godfather" series
and "Dick Tracy," to a cook in a
greasy spoon in "Frankie and
Johnny," to a corrupt property salesman
in last year's "Glengarry Glen
Ross."
In "Scent of a Woman," his love
for scoundrels is evident as he digs
deep into his character, Frank Slade,
a blind, foul-mouthed, alcoholic excolonel
who, in a spin on the "Home
Alone 2" plot, heads off to New
York City for a good time.
His goals on the trip: to stay in a
fine hotel, eat good food, ride in a
limo, make love to an attractive
