Charleston, 3-1, Wednesday in th
Sol Blatt P.E. Center.
Mitchell pounded home 17 kills,
Ralston slammed 16 kills, and
freshman Katie Gerst added 14
kills for the Lady Gamecocks in
their four-set win.

Last weekend Miami re-established
itself as a front-runner for
the national championship.
This weekend the Canes could
be faced with losing that status as
they journey to College Park, Pa. to
play No. 7 Penn State.
Miami's defense was once again
outstanding last week, constantly
forcing Florida Mate quarterback
Charlie Ward to make super-human
efforts to avoid being sacked.
Penn State, who is trying to
decide if Wally Richardson or John
Sacca will start at quarterback, has
run up big scores on about every
team they have played this season.
The Nittany Lions' schedule up to
this point has not exactly been
overwhelming.
Miami will remain undefeated as
they handle the big-play.Penn State
offense.
California at Washington. On
the Pacific coast, Washington faces
a good Cal team at Husky Stadium
in Seattle. The Huskies looked
human in their 17-10 victory over
USC last weekend which is something
they haven't done all season.
Cal runningback Russell White
has once again been tremendous as
he has taken the pressure off of the
Bears' inexperienced passing
game. However, Washington is
outstanding against the run. Just
ask Nebraska.

Well, the playoffs have started
again, and Barry "Junk" Bonds is
performing just as poorly as ever.
For somebody who is supposed to
be the best player in the game, he
sure is pathetic in the postseason.

offensive material. Actually, Bonds
is rather offensive. I just know that
if I was the vanishing man, I would
