South Carolina Archeology
Week will be celebrated with Hi ore
than 80 events and exhibits Sept.
19-26.
It will be the first statewide
observance of South Carolina's
heritase.
Indian dancers, primitive tool
demonstrations and displays about
archeological work will highlight
the statewide kickoff. The event
will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
today on the State House grounds
in Columbia.
Organized by the S.C. Institute of
Archeology and Anthropology at USC,
this observance is designed to stimulate
public understanding of South
Carolina's archeological heritage.

Rippeteau, state archeologist and
director of the institute, said.
"Until recently, archeologists
only concentrated on scientific
excellence. But now we also are
working hard to share our findings
with the public to stimulate a sense r
of citizen ownership and responsi

department sponsored the 1992
Student Organization Fair 10:30
a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday on the
Russell House Patio.
Greek, service, religious, athletic
and media organizations
had representatives and display
tables to discuss their activities
and recruit USC students.
The fair is an annual event
which also included demonstrations
by some organizations.

move to a larger school brought
programs in their majors.
