The University of South
Carolina men's and women's cross
country teams both kicked off the
1992 season at the Georgia State
Invitational Saturday.
Junior Keith Gorski helped lead
the men's squad to a fourth place
finish out of 16 teams by placing
seventh. Sophomore Tom Cronin
placed eighth while juniors Mark
Cruz and Eddie Clarke finished in
26th and 27th place respectively.
South Carolina finished with
106.points, but was edged out by
Georgia Tech (59), Alabama (62),
and Auburn (69).
The Lady Gamecocks, who
placed second, were led by AllSEC
performer senior Sue McGhie
who finished the 5,000 meter run 1
in fourth place. Auburn, with a
total of 33 points edged out South
Carolina with 58.
Other key performances by

The University of South
Carolina women's volleyball
team lost to Clemson in the
finals of the Palmetto State
Invitational on Saturday.
Clemson captured the title b^
winning a tiebreaker against the
Lady Gamecocks. Both South
Carolina and Clemson were 4-0
in the tournament, but the Lady
Gamecocks dropped two games
to Furman Friday and one to
Coastal Saturday to finish in second
place after the tiebreaker.
