President Bush invited congressional
leaders to discuss the situation
in Iraq after deciding to send a
battery of Patriot missiles to
Kuwait and a third aircraft carrier
to the Middle East.
Bush stood by his get-tough policy
with Saddam Hussein on
Monday despite the compromise
agreement Sunday which permits
U.N. inspectors to search for
weapons-related materials at the
Agriculture Ministry in Baghdad.
The agreement ended another
contentious standoff with Saddam,
whom the administration claims
has been guilty of numerous violations
of U.N. Security Council resolutions
quite apart from the one
which calls for the elimination of
weapons of mass destruction.
