Housesitter is a good example c another tired idea that doesn't g( developed into much of a scrip This movie is an opportunity fc Martin and Hawn to do comedi bits while the studios try to pas this off as a legitimate film. Thes bits are surrounded by stock chai acters in unbelievable situation; Maybe the lack of story develop ment is because of a rush to finis filming before the earthquake h L.A. Director Frank Oz of What ab out Bob, Little Shop of Horrors successfully sets his trademark which ends up as being a mad am quirky tone for Housesitter. Bui neither an interesting tone, no Hawn and Martin's talents can sus tain such a weak premise for film. /\iso, a uiretaui musi uucci in actors. Consequently, they find the slves in contact with a transvi te named Frank, Scott Blanl /ho welcomes them into 1 ither abstract world of "Trai xual." Along the way, both lem engage in some wild, s( al encounters as a way of ii ating them into Frank's Hoi f Pleasure. Blanks portrayal of Frank veting and frighteningly belie ble. So, step aside Tim Curry, lere's ever going to be a seqi > the first cult film, Blanks le one to pick to reprise t )le. . . hands down. Trustus has really pulled together an nd excellent cast in this note-worthy ul, piece of theater.
