Starretl danced the roles of the Cadet, the Nutcracker Prince, and will alternate as the Snow King, the Sugai Plum Cavalier and the Dew Drop Cavalier. Widely acclaimed company ballerina Mariclare Miranda-Frost alternates principal roles as well. Starrett and Miranda- Frost's breathtaking "Sugar Plum Pas de Deux" is reason enough to see the show. Other noteworthy performances were given by Sylvia DansbySmith as the Snow Queen, Olivei Wevers as the Snow King and the Russian Sugar Twist, and Erin Jaffe as Clara. Two USC students, Taber Cathcart and Leigh Sheridan, perform various demanding roles in the production. Both young women have appeared in many ballets with the company. Highlights of the show included a growing Christmas tree, Clara's descent from a cloud into the Kingdom of Sweets and the dramatic lighting and shadows during the battle of the Soldiers and the Rats. The audience reacted with pleasure to the small Mice, Cherubs and Cupids that scampered across stage. Some of the audience's reactions were emotional and powerful. ips bring bo< all doors at night. If you leave your room at all, lock the door. You can't be too careful. At the library, DO NOT leave your books alone for a minute. Many reports of book theft happen when a student was gone for just a few seconds. Also, do not leave purses or other personal belongings alone. If you are in a bookstore and have to leave your bookbag at the front, lock it up in an available locker. Scott said people who are caught stealing books are always arrested, charged with larceny and taken to jail.
