The student, who only wanted to be identified as Neil, said he received seven to eight harassing phone calls after he placed the advertisement last Wednesday. Neil said he was trying to get in touch with a girl named Angela he met at the Grand Marketplace Oct 29. "We talked and had a nice conversation," he said. "On an impulse, I made up the ad because I wanted to see her again. I wanted to see if she was still interested." Neil said he received five or six calls on Wednesday after the ad ran. "I got a call from one guy who used a high falsetto voice and who claimed to be Angela, one from a guy who. .. had been put up to calling by a fraternity brother, one from a guy who said I shouldn't leave messages like that in The Ad progr eighth n< From Staff Reports The USC advertising program in the College of Journalism and Mass Communication has been ranked the eighth best in the nation, according to a national survey of advertising educators. 'This means that USC not only measures up but that we stand out," said Judy Turk, dean of the journalism college. "Anytime people in your business think highly of you, it's valuable because they tend to be the toughest critics," Turk said. Neil filed a report with USC police Wednesday night He said the police said it was his own fault for running his phone number in the ad. "I was a little naive when I placed the ad, but I didn't think it was license for every jerk-off on campus to call me," he said. Neil said he still hopes to get in touch with Angela. "I would like to see her again," he said. "I would just like to explain what happened. We could KoirA 1 onrl to 1 \r orvma ?y\c\**o ** ua w luiivn anu luuv duiu^ mill t/. There have been 10 obscene and harassing phone calls reported to USC police in the past week. Carl Stokes, director of Law Enforcement and Safety, said when he worked for the State .Law Enforcement Department, the number of "Peeping Toms" reported would decline as it got colder, while the number of harassing phone calls reported would increase. "I have concluded that those prone to be 'Peeping Toms' move inside as it gets colder and use the phone to get their kicks, instead of going out and looking in windows," Stokes said. am ranks itionally in the U.S. do you consider to have the very best undergraduate programs in advertising?" Out of 84 responses, faculty members named 23 schools among the three they thought to be the best.
