Tigerburn
seeks new
sponsors

Tigerbum will have a slightly different flare t]
year as Greek Life officials announced a change
sponsorship of the event and said the annual pre-evi
parade will be discontinued.
Rick Gantt, Greek Life coordinator, said he 1
opened the sponsorship of Tigerburn to other willi
fraternities because Phi Kappa Psi, the fratern
which usually sponsors the event, backed out of spc
soring the event and making the tiger.
The tiger is usually built and displayed at the Bio
Drive before the burn takes place.
Gantt said he has not selected a fraternity to ta
the event over, but will select from many of the
who displayed interest this week.
He also announced the annual pre-event parade v
be discontinued, and instead a new pep rally with 1
USC cheerleaders and the Carolina band, will be h<

Other pre-game activities scheduled for next we
include "Big Thursday" and the Carolina-Clems
Blood Drive.
"Big Thursday" is being sponsored by the Alunr
Association and has made a big comeback from pj
years. However, the event is being scheduled at t
same time as the Tigerbum, and will be held at t
Ellison Building on the State Fairgrounds.
"Big Thursday" will include contests for the tac
iest Carolina and Clemson outfits and for the b<
Carolina and Clemson jokes.
The Carolina-Clemson Blood Drive will be he
Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
the Russell House Ballroom.
The university with the most pints of blood donal
will win the Blood Drive contest. Clemson won I
contest last year, and also won the football game.
Gantt pointed out that the winner of the Bio
Drive has, coincidentally, always won the game.
In 1986, however, the Blood Drive contest w
ruled a tie between the two universities. And the sc<
of the game: USC 21, Clemson 21.
