The Gamecocks spotted Georgi;
Tech a quarter of play Saturday
but the Yellow Jackets spotted th<

strange occurrence Saturday a:
USC improved to 3-2-2 with i
23-14 win over the defending co
national champions. Georgia Tec!

Consider: on the first play frorr
scrimmage for the Gamecocks, se

fakes the hand-off to Brandor
Bennett and passes to tight enc
Mike Whitman for a nine-yarc

back into a shotgun-formation
splitting the tight ends with twc
more receivers a step off the line,
and hits Bennett for a pick up oi

Seven more times, Fuller
dropped four yards behind centei
Jay Killen to receive the snap. The

what such plays are for.
But perhaps the strangest play ol
the day came after Bennett was
stopped on third down midway
through the first period. On fourthand-one
from their own 47, the
Gamecocks lined up to punt. Georgia

In a match riddled by fouls, the
llth-ranked USC soccer team lost
its third game in five outings,
dropping a 1-0 decision to fifthranked
Wake Forest at The Graveyard
Sunday.
There were 47 fouls called in
the match ? 29 on Wake Forest
? and three yellow cards given.
The loss was the Gamecocks' third
in the South Region, and only their
second loss at home this season.
Wake improved to 11-1-2.
The only goal of the game came
midway through the first half. On
a Wake Forest free kick near the
top of the goal box, junior midfielder
John DuGuid tapped the ball to
his left, where senior midfielder
Craig Johnson shot it into the right

In the third quarter, the Gan
