The Association of African-American Students
is encouraeine students to boycott a local
pizza eatery after the owner called a customer a
nigger.
However, Sajiv Soni, owner of Soni's Pizza,
said the conflict was not intentional and only
i started because of false orders to his restaurant
Dawn Ford, an African-American history sophomore,
said she ordered a pizza from her Patterson
dorm room Sept. 30. After placing her
order with Soni's Pizza around 5:30 p.m., she
called Soni's back and canceled her order two
minutes later.
"After I canceled my order, I got another call
asking me if I was sure that I really didn't want
the pizza. I told the man yes and he seemed
pleasant about it," Ford said.
After that conversation, Ford said she immediately
received another phone call.
"I answered and I heard someone cussing and
calling me a 'nigger.' I hung up right away,"
she said.
Ford said she called Soni's Pizza after this
incident and asked to speak to the manager.
"The same person that cussed me out answered
the phone and said he was the manager."
Soni admitted to calling Ford a "nigger" and
