Cockfest to feature student entertainers By KKia HUKKLa Staff Writer USC homecoming spectators have many things to look forward to tonight. Cockfest, a traditional Carolina event, will be featuring an extravaganza of talent from USC students as well as some distinguished guests. One major star attraction at the event will be comedian/TV personality Jeff Foxworthy. Foxworthy has appeared on "The Tonight Show" and has had his own "Showtime Comedy Night" special. His main specialty is rea-necK numor, wnicn reaiiy rouses up a crowa. Preceding the show will be the pep rally, followed by an appearance of the Coquettes and the Southern Belles. A major portion of the show will be the skits put on by the Greek student organizations. Among the fraternities and sororities that will be seen are Kappa Delta, Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Kappa Sigma and Sigma Chi. Cockfest itself is sponsored by Pi Kappa Phi. Cockfest leader Robert Klause is a bit enthusiastic about this year's extravaganza. "This is such an extraordinary event, it has been such a great experience working on this year's show," Klause said. He explained that increased exposure through USC student media will make a difference in the attendance at the show. The added feature of a comedy spotlight is one of the improvements put together to increase popularity. "Each year we are going to take the popularity of this event a bit higher," Klause said. As a part of the traditional Carolina homecoming events, Cockfest will be an enjoyment for many USC students. Since this is Klause's last year at Carolina, he sees this Cockfest as a sentimental departure into the real world. "Being here at Carolina, and having a chance to work on something like this (Cockfest) has given a broader perspective and influenced me to become involved in more activities at USC," Klause said. "Working with the great people I have on this event, I feel it has made me more responsible and more ready to make it out there," he added. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and concludes around 11 p.m. Tickets are $2 for students, $3 for adults and $8 for a family, with kids under 12 free.
