Association Championships, will be giving a motivational speech at the
Koger Center Thursday. Riley will use his experience as coach of the
Los Angeles Lakers (where he compiled the best winning percentage of
any coach in NBA history) to inspire others in the art of leadership.
Riley made a huge name for himself as both a player and coach in the
NBA. He has the most playoff wins of any NBA coach (102) and was
awarded the Red Auerbach Trophy in 1990 for NBA Coach of the Year.
He retired from coaching in 1990 after he led the Lakers to another
appearance in the NBA Finals. He joined NBC to become a sports commentator
alongside veteran broadcaster Bob Costas.
Pat Riley will speak at 8 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are $7 for the public;
$3 for USC students. The program is sponsored by Carolina Program

Mozart was just 30 when he wrote the music to The Marriage of Figaro,
which premiered May 1, 1786, in Vienna. The opera, which has
been performed countless times around the world, has become one of the
composer's best-known works and one of the most popular operas of all
time.
'Figaro is the first of three successful collaborations with librettist
Lorenzo da Ponte. The comic opera tells the story of a servant (Figaro)
who is in love and who has to overcome many obstacles before he
reaches the altar ? namely that his master wants Figaro's girlfriend for
himself.
