Abstinence, condoms urged for students By LISA MOHN and KARL HARDEN Sex Columnists You were probably wondering what happened to "that sex column." Well, we're back again, and keeping with this semester's new format, we have eluded an article with a viewpoint other than This past month we offered the psychological, as well as the health perspective, on what role love should play in a sexual relationship. This month B B we're addressing abstinence from a religious/moral Br ^^^^B perspective, along with our regular column. Face it. ^rA ^^^^B We each got to where we are in our values and decision about sex by doing a lot more than just consider V^-r7 ^ering the health consequences. We hope you'll read ^r these articles with an open mind. Even from a health standpoint, it can certainly be said that abstinence is a great choice, if not the best choice. So, where does that leave us in making "healthful" ^W recommendations about sex? Back to the same thing you've heard us say before ? abstinence, monogamy and condoms, in that order. There is absolutely no _ doubt that abstinence is the safest alternative, because it's the only one that's 100 percent. But the other choices will certainly increase the chances of healthy outcomes for sexually active people. A reminder here about monogamy. It does not mean the brand often practiced by students which we call "serial monogamy." That means you're only with one partner at a time, even if it's a different partner each weekend. From a health standpoint, 1 our enjoyment in mind. But like everything of monogamy means lifelong, or at least long-term, exnse beauty, it is intensely fragile, and to protect clusivity.
