The Lady Gamecocks crushed
the Tulane Green Wave Saturday
with a 73-49 win giving them a
12-6 record overall and 4-2 in the
Metro Conference.
The game began with a tribute
and a period of silence for the servicemen
in the Middle East Both
USC and Tulane wore the American
flag on their uniforms.
The Lady Gamecocks were
strong right from the beginning,
keeping the Green Wave from
scoring until four minutes into the
first half.

came to the Lady Gamecocks was
four points with 2:00 remaining in
the first half. That did not last long
and USC pulled ahead to end the
half with a 33-24 lead.
Junior guard Lori Joyner was
the leading scorer in the first half
as well as the second. She started
with eight points and came back in
the second half with 12.
Freshman guard Nicki Bass kept
the game exciting with her threepoint
shots. She came out in the

Senior guard Karen Middleton,
freshman forward Wendy Moss
and senior forward Ann Gardner
also fired away three-point shots
contributing to the Lady Gamecocks
win.
The Lady Gamecocks scored 14
points in the first five minutes of
the second half, while the Green
Wave only scored two points in
the same span.
The Green Wave only got their
second basket of the second half
with 8:00 remaining and USC
ahead by 22 points.
The Lady Gamecocks kept their
staggering 22-point lead over the
Green Wave for the rest of the second
half.
The leading scorers for Tulane
were freshman forward Keisha
Johnson with 10 points and junior
forward Holly Hauser with nine.
The Lady Gamecocks will face
Southern Mississippi tonight in
another Metro Conference game at
7:00 p.m. in the Frank McGuire
Arena.
