Coley Brown, a trainer at the Columbia Athletic Club, said

"Older people go (to gyms) for health reasons
but younger people go to look slim, trim and
beautiful."
sophomore Sandrea Longshore
nutritionist Evelyn Bailey said.
But what do you do to get fit? Consult a doctor or start a diet on
your own? Bailey advises students to be careful about the method of
dieting they chose because some diets are dangerous to their health.
"Most people have a general idea of how to diet, yet some make the
mistake of starving themselves and at Bailey's we try to encourage
everyone to be moderate in eating habits," Bailey said.
Many diets nowadays are not aimed at providing people with proper
eating habits but rather at determining how many calories a person consumes.
Nutritionists say 1,000 calories is the lowest amount anyone
should limit themselves to because 600 is the amount needed for survival.
Bailey advises changing your calorie intake so your body will not
become dehydrated and drained.
The best way to get healthy is to eat breakfast and exercise daily,
and to include a multi-vitamin supplement and lots of water in your
diet, Bailey said.
She noted that people thinking of dieting under the direction of a
consulting company should extensively research them first
