I have always heard that condoms
are the best method to pre- j.
vent STD's, but what if you are
allergic to the rubber or lubri- t
cant in the condom?
You are right. Condoms are the
best method for sexually active t)
people to prevent diseases. Unfor- c
tunately, some people are allergic
to the rubber, and there is really v
nothing you can do about it.
An animal skin condorr is an v
option, but a very small virus (i.e. r'
HIV, which causes AIDS) might n
get through the skin condoms, v
which are porous, as compared to P
a condom made of rubber. The a
animal skin condoms do provide 0
good protection against unwanted n
pregnancy, however, and would 11

certainly be better protection than "
using nothing against most sexually
transmitted diseases. Adding ^
a spermicidal foam containing
non-oxynol 9 (used by your part- S(
ner) will provide increased protec- sl
tion against any bacteria or virus n

If you are allergic to the lubri- u
cant (or aren't sure if it's the rub- 01
ber or the lubricant), try nonlubricated
condoms. There can be
some irritation of the genitals if 0
