Volleyball team wins
three straight games

The USC volleyball team won three straight games on the road this
weekend to improve their record to 17-12.
Thursday night, USC solidly defeated Nicholls State 3-1 in Thibodaux,
La.
Redshirt freshman Libby Ralston led the Lady Gamecocks to the
1 15-11, 15-9, 11-15, 15-10 win. She had 24 kills and 10 digs.Senior cocaptains
Tammy Correll and Lora Myers also contributed to the win with
63 assists and 18 kills respectively.
Nicholls State was led by Julie Gumina (20 kills) and Jody Kahler (33 |
assists) as the Lady Colonels fell to 11-19.
The Lady Gamecocks rallied to defeat Metro Conference foe Tulane
Friday night in New Orleans 3-2.
The Lady Green Wave captured the first game 15-4, but USC rallied
to tie the match with a 15-10 victory in the second game. Tulane captured
the third game 15-5. The Lady Gamecocks came back from the 2-1
deficit, winning the next two games 15-5 and 15-11 to win the match.
Junior Caryn Case paced USC with 18 kills on 41 attempts for a .341
attack percentage. Amy Collingsworth (17 kills on 35 attempts), Lora
Myers (14 kills on 33 attempts) and Libby Ralston (13 kills on 28 attempts)
played vital roles in the victory.
Tina Prima collected 19 kills on 50 attempts, while Erin Fogarty tallied
15 kills on 37 attempts for the Lady Green Wave, who dropped to
13-12 on the season.
The Lady Gamecocks won their second straight Metro Conference
game Saturday night over Southern Mississippi.
I USC rallied again to win 13-15, 15-11, 10-15, 16-14 and 15-7.
Caryn Case, Amy Collinsworth, Lora Myers and Libby Ralston again
led the Lady Gamecocks. Case had 22 kills while Myers and Ralston
collected 13 and nine kills, respectively. Collinsworth recorded 13 kills.
USC played at the College of Charleston Tuesday night and will return
home at 7 p.m. Friday to take on conference foe Memphis State at Sol 1
