Actor Julian Sands, the devil's
disciple in Warlock, said he likes
the part because "it's appealing to
play a character who relishes his yps
malevolence as much as the warlock
does."
Warlock will have a special premiere
tonight in the Russell House ppF
movie theater.
Warlock's plot begins in 1691 in
Boston where witch hunter Giles
Redferne (Richard Grant) catches
Sands' character, the Warlock. The
Devil transports his Warlock to the
future, Los Angeles in 1988, to es- MM!
cape the witch hunter at which
time the Warlock kills one of Redfernes'
descendents. The witch
hunter also transports to Los
Angeles, and the battle between
good and evil begins.
"Playing the Warlock was fun. I
always try to choose work that offers
me interesting experiences. It
makes my life more interesting,"
Sands said in a telephone
interview.
The Warlock is absolutely evil
and enjoys it immensely, Sands 9
said.
"His evil is so pure that it's sort 9
of beautiful. He's rather chic in his
black clothes. He's terribly sophis- 9
ticated ? a Renaissance man amid
midwestern hicks," he said. Julian
Sands likened Warlock to the movie wi

eonege-ageo people are less emicai man any
other group of people, a Los Angeles-based
think tank claimed Oct 12.
People 18-to-30 years old have fewer ethical
) values than earlier generations, the Josephon Institute
for the Advancement of Ethics said.
Young people lack honesty, personal responsibility
and respect for others, the institute said
in a summary of other polls, articles and approximately
40 original interviews.
The results, according to researcher Michael
Josephson, indicate "a meaningful, demonstrable
... discernible disintegration" in moral
standards.
Students vehemently disputed the charge.
"I disagree with that," Jennifer MacCallum of
Providence College on Rhode Island said. "So
many people here are very concerned for other
people. We don't protest issues, we actually go
out and do something about it."

Indeed, at about the same moment Josephson
released its study, 7,000 students from around
the nation gathered at the University of Illinois
to plot environmental efforts. Half of Dartmouths's
student body turned out to object to a
student newspaper's verbal attacks on blacks.
"Those things are very relevant," Josephson
said, "hut I don't think it will rhancm thnict
of how we characterize the generation."
Oklahoma State University's Daryn Casey
said "I think maybe we have different morals
and different values than the last generation, but
there's not a lack of morals."
Even those seemingly behind Josephon think
he has overstated the case.
"I don't see rampant amorality," psychology
professor Stephen Davis of Emporia State University
in Kansas said. His survey of 6,000 collegians
nationwide, in which he found a majority
admitted to cheating in high school, was one
of the studies on which Joscphson based his

While Warlock has its sick humor,

Sands said.
"The Warlock does kill, and it's
